Man arrested in BB gun shooting of Jewish father, 7-year-old son on Staten Island

NEW YORK -- An arrest has been made in the BB gun shooting of a father and son outside of a kosher supermarket in the Meiers Corners section of Staten Island.

On Sunday afternoon, a 7-year-old was grazed on the ear and and his father was struck in the chest in the shooting.

Jason Kish, 25, now faces multiple charges, including assault as a hate crime and endangering the welfare of a child.

Mayor Eric Adams credited the community for its support.

"Everyday citizens who stated we're not going to accept hate. They voluntarily assisted the police department. That combination is what creates a safe environment," Adams said.

The father and son were said to be okay physically, but the little boy was deeply shaken.
