Suspect Identified In String Of Manhattan Bank Robberies
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police have identified a suspect in eight bank robberies around Manhattan.
James Walton is described as a white male standing 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing 160 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes.
Police have released an earlier photo of Walton with a full head of hair, and a surveillance photo allegedly showing him in a later incident in which he appears bald.
Walton allegedly struck banks in Greenwich Village, the Flatiron District, Midtown, the Upper East Side, and the Upper West Side, police said.
In the incidents, the suspect passed a note to the teller and fled with about $3,400, police said.
The robberies happened at the following times and locations:
Around 12:25 p.m. Thursday, March 6, at the HSBC Bank at 145 Fifth Ave.;
At 11:36 a.m. Saturday, March 8, at the Capital One Bank at 2025 Broadway;
Around 11 a.m. Monday, March 17, at the Capital One Bank at 21 University Pl.;
Around 2:30 p.m. Saturday, March 22, at the Chase Bank at 1025 Madison Ave.;
Around 9:15 a.m. this past Thursday at the HSBC Bank at 1165 Third Ave.;
Around 9:15 a.m. this past Saturday at the Chase Bank at 225 Fifth Ave.;
At 10:18 a.m. Monday at the Capital One Bank at 1745 Broadway.
