Suspect Arrested In Bedford-Stuyvesant Sexual Assault

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police have arrested and charged a man in the sexual abuse of a woman earlier this month in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn.

Elijah Lofton, 19, of Brooklyn, was charged with a penal law felony criminal sex act, police said. He was arrested on Thursday in connection with the assault on Saturday, May 17.

Around 1 a.m. that day, a suspect followed the 22-year-old victim at an undisclosed address in Bedford-Stuyvesant and then pulled her between two cars, police said. The man threatened the woman with a gun and then sexually abused her before fleeing the scene, police said.

The victim was taken to an area hospital, where she was treated and released, police said.
