Man Accused In Series Of Home Burglaries In Suffolk County

LINDENHURST, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A homeless man has been arrested in connection with more than half a dozen home burglaries in Suffolk County.

Authorities said a Suffolk officer was driving down North Wellwood Avenue in Lindenhurst on Thursday when he recognized a man from surveillance video of a home burglary.

The officer placed the suspect, identified as 47-year-old Ronald David, under arrest following further investigation, police said.

Police believe David is responsible for seven home burglaries spanning from March to October in East Islip, Bayport, West Islip, Islip, Lindenhurst and West Babylon.

Police said items that were stolen included jewelry, credit cards, cash and electronics.

David, who does not have a current address, was charged with seven counts of second-degree burglary. He is being held at the First Precinct and is expected to be arraigned on Saturday.
