Student Plunges From Roof Of Building At Columbia University

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A student was hospitalized Monday night after plunging from the roof of a dorm building at Columbia University.

The 19-year-old man plunged from the roof of the eight-story building at 411 W. 116th St. around 8:30 p.m. Monday, and landed on a scaffold on the third-floor landing, officials said. Officials told CBS2 the man was a student.

He had no clothes on at the time he plunged from the building, officials said.

The Wien Hall dormitory is located at the 116th Street address.

He was taken to Mount Sinai St. Luke's Hospital, where he was reported in serious condition, the FDNY told CBS2.

He was still breathing when he was hospitalized, the FDNY said.

Police were investigating the incident late Monday night.
