Storm-Related Transit And Traffic Updates

A look at transit- and traffic-related changes related to the snowstorm:
HIGHWAYS
- The Long Island Expressway reopened to traffic at 8 a.m. It had been closed in both directions in Nassau and Suffolk counties since midnight.
- The Northern State and Southern State parkways will remain open.
- I-87 south of Albany reopened to passenger vehicles at 5 a.m. and commercial vehicles at 8 a.m.
- I-84 reopened to commercial and passenger vehicles at 8 a.m.

TRAINS
- The Metropolitan Transportation Authority announced express subway service in New York City ended at 5:45 p.m. Thursday. All lines will run local until further notice, the agency said. Click here for more info.
- Metro-North Railroad is reducing service and will run hourly trains on all three lines. It will run on a Saturday schedule on Friday. Click here for more info.
- Long Island Rail Road service will run on a weekend schedule on Friday. Click here for more info.
- NJ TRANSIT will cross-honor all tickets Friday. Click here for more info.
- Amtrak said it will operate on a modified snow schedule Friday. Click here for more info.
FLIGHTS
- John F. Kennedy International Airport has reopened to arriving/departing flights. Expect residual delays.
- LaGuardia, Newark Liberty, Westchester County and Teterboro airports were experiencing delays. U.S. airlines canceled nearly 2,500 flights nationwide Thursday and had already canceled more than 1,000 flights scheduled for Friday. FERRY SERVICE
- East River Ferry service is running.
- Rockaway Ferry service is suspended.
- Staten Island Ferry is running on a modified schedule with boats leaving every 20 minutes.
