Storm Damage Snarls Service For Metro-North, NJ TRANSIT & Amtrak
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Storm damage from Wednesday's nor'easter disrupted service Thursday for Metro-North, NJ TRANSIT and Amtrak.
Metro-North was operating a reduced schedule Thursday, carrying only 55 percent of its weekday ridership capacity. The agency said customers should expect very crowded conditions and delays.
On its website, NJ TRANSIT said the severe conditions, especially in Morris County where some of the heaviest snow fell Wednesday, "rendered much of the rail infrastructure inaccessible."
NJ TRANSIT's Atlantic City Rail Line, Morris & Essex, Gladstone, Montclair Boonton, Main and Bergen County and Port Jervis lines were all suspended due to storm cleanup.
System wide cross-honoring was in effect with buses resuming normal routes.
Modified winter storm service resumed for Amtrak after trains were temporarily suspended between New York City and Boston.
PATH and the Long Island Rail Road werre on a normal weekday schedule.
