Woman, Teen Shot Inside Staten Island Hair Salon
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police are looking for two suspects after two women were shot Wednesday afternoon inside a Staten Island hair salon.
Thankfully, the two victims are expected to survive.
Police say the women were innocent bystanders.
Surveillance video shows two men dressed in black walk up to a hair salon on Victory Boulevard just off Montgomery Avenue in the St. George section around 4 p.m.
From the sidewalk, they look through the front window, then one pulls out a gun and starts shooting inside before they take off running.
"When I heard the shooting, I just lay on the floor, that's all," said Bousso Babou, owner of the hair salon. "We was braiding hair, and the lady who was in my chair, she's the one who got shot."
Police say two women in the salon were hit; a 35-year-old was shot twice in the buttocks, and a 17-year-old was grazed in the head.
"It don't got nothing to do with my shop," Babou said. "Anybody could have died ... for nothing."
As CBS2's Ali Bauman reports, as of this week, shootings citywide are up 7.1% compared to this time last year and up 99.2% compared to this time two years ago.
"You can't even come outside your door without thinking a bullet's gonna fly," one person said.

Mayor Bill de Blasio spoke earlier in the day about the rise in violence at a police graduation ceremony.
"In the last year, we have had the highest number of gun arrests in a quarter century. That's how the NYPD fought back against crime," he said.
The store owner told CBS2 she has no idea who the gunmen were aiming for.
The victims are being treated at a local hospital for their injuries.
Investigators are asking anyone with information on the suspects to call police.
