DA: Former Staten Island Basketball Coach Admits To Sending Porn To Teenage Boys

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A former Staten Island high school basketball coach admitted this week to sending pornographic videos to two boys.

Eduardo Maisonet, 35, pleaded guilty Monday in Stapleton Criminal Court to attempted first-degree disseminating indecent materials to minors, which is a felony, according to a release from the Staten Island District Attorney's office. He also admitted to misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child, the DA's office said.

Maisonet will be sentenced to five years' probation and will have to register as a sex offender, the DA's office said. He was given an order of protection to stay away from and refrain from contacting the victims, the DA's office said.

Masionet had been a volunteer junior varsity basketball coach at Port Richmond High School, according to the DA's office.

He was first arrested on Jan. 9 when a boy on the team said the coach had sent him pornographic videos, according to the DA's office. Charging documents indicated that Maisonet allegedly asked the boy to touch himself and send him back a video of it.

A second boy later came forward with similar allegations, according to the DA's office.

The Staten Island Advance reported the boys to whom Maisonet sent the indecent material were both 15.
