Staten Island Artist On Mission To Paint American Flag In Every State
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A Staten Island artist will embark on a six-month trip across the country to pay tribute to veterans in a personal and patriotic way.
Scott LoBaido said he is on a mission to paint a three dimensional version of the American flag on one veteran's post in every state.
"I'm going to paint the town red, white and blue," LoBaido said. "This my way of saying, 'Hey, thank you.'"
He will use nine different colors to create the illusion that the flag is waving.
"It's not a flat flag, it's 3-D, it pops off the wall, the colors are bold and bright," LoBaido said.
It usually takes two to three days to paint the flags, depending on the size, LoBaido said.
"On a general scale they're probably between 30 by 20 feet, some are 40' by 20', some are 80' by 40'," LoBaido said.
The first stop on the "Painting Flags Across America Tour'' is Fayetteville, North Carolina.
