Springsteen's Son Becomes Colts Neck Volunteer Firefighter

COLTS NECK, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) - Bruce Springsteen's son has become a volunteer firefighter.

Sam Springsteen, 20, graduated last week from the Monmouth County Fire Academy. Springsteen's youngest son will be a member of the Colts Neck Fire Department in New Jersey.

County fire marshal Henry Stryker III told the Asbury Park Press there's a lot of physical work and book studies involved in the 188-hour course.

Stryker says Springsteen is very smart and enjoyed what he was doing.

Sam Springsteen was among 42 who graduated in a ceremony at the Fire Academy on Jan. 15.

Both his parents, Springsteen and Patti Scialfa, attended the graduation.
