Snow Held Off But Wind Advisory In Effect Across Region
WESTHAMPTON BEACH, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) - The projected winter-like storm didn't amount to much snow across the region, but blustery winds are casting a chill across the Tri-State Area.
As WCBS 880 Long Island Bureau Chief Mike Xirinachs reported from Westhampton Beach, the gusts were strong enough Wednesday morning to blow around lawn furniture and trash cans.
What little snow did fall didn't hang around very long and the wind was a welcomed trade-off to the snow, Xirinachs reported.
A wind advisory is in effect until 6 p.m. across New York City, northern New Jersey, the lower Hudson Valley, western Long Island and southwest Connecticut.
Winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts between 45 and 50 mph are possible, according to the National Weather Service.

As a result, the New York City Department of Buildings has reminded all builders, property owners and contractors to secure construction sites and buildings. Officials will conduct random inspections of construction sites, the department added.
The forecast is calling for warmer temperatures in the coming days with many across the region hoping this was nature's last blast of winter-like conditions.
