Small Version Of Statue Of Liberty Arrives In Tri-State Area After Voyage From France
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A special ceremony was held Wednesday morning to welcome the Statue of Liberty's so-called "little sister" to New York.
The statue is approximately 9 feet tall and 1,000 pounds.
She arrived in Elizabeth, New Jersey, on Wednesday morning, welcomed by dignitaries, including New Jersey Gov. Phi Murphy and the French ambassador to the U.S.
She's on a diplomatic mission, a symbol of friendship between the two countries.
"I hope and trust her presence will enlighten all who see her to live up to her values in their own lives and actions and to the highest shared values of our two nations," Murphy said.
After a stop on Ellis Island, she'll head to the French Embassy in Washington, D.C., where she will stay for a decade.
