Should Jets Be Thinking Trade For Eagles' DeSean Jackson?
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The New York Jets could use a headline-grabbing move, and the Philadelphia Eagles are reportedly fielding calls on three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver DeSean Jackson.
Sound like a fit to you?
The Eagles are seeking a third-round pick at minimum in a trade for Jackson and have "taken inquiries" from San Francisco and New England, according to CSN Philly.
Should Jets general manager John Idzik be next to pick up the phone? Even though Philadelphia isn't "actively shopping" Jackson, as reported by CSN, apparently they're entertaining offers -- and the Jets have picks and money galore. New York is expected to have as many as 12 selections in the upcoming draft.
"I would think that they would make a call and sniff around," WFAN co-host Boomer Esiason said Wednesday morning.

New York could use another big-time target for quarterback Geno Smith. Jackson -- with his 82 receptions for 1,332 yards in 2013 -- would be a big upgrade over Jeremy Kerley and the disappointing Stephen Hill. And the Jets, whose receiving corps was considered a major weakness heading into the offseason, would suddenly have a fearsome one-two punch with former Denver wideout Eric Decker signed this month to a five-year deal.
The Eagles are facing a $12.5-million cap hit with Jackson on the roster, according to the Newark Star-Ledger. Philadelphia locked up the 27-year-old to a five-year, $47 million deal in 2012, and recently re-signed two other receivers: Jeremy Maclin for one year and Riley Cooper for five years. Sure, the Eagles still have money to burn. But that's a huge commitment to one position, and Jackson isn't seen as having the greatest relationship with the coaching staff in Philly.
Meanwhile, the Jets have nearly $28 million to play with under the cap -- and their fans are starved for a big move.
"Why do I not hear the Jets involved in that conversation, but I hear about New England and San Francisco?" WFAN co-host Craig Carton said.
The Patriots and 49ers may not be legitimate suitors for Jackson, however, according to Albert Breer of the NFL Network:

Gregg Rosenthal of NFL.com listed the Jets third on his list of teams that "make sense" in a potential Jackson deal.
"The Jets shouldn't stop with Eric Decker," Rosenthal wrote. "They were tied closely to Tavon Austin in last year's draft and have been tied to other similar speed merchants in this year's crop. Jackson certainly would qualify as an aggressive bid to change their passing game."
Jackson, the 49th overall pick in the 2008 draft, caught nine touchdowns last season.
The Jets had only 13 receiving TDs in 2013, led by four from tight end Jeff Cumberland.
