Six Vehicles Involved In Hit-And-Run Accident In Sheepshead Bay
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police are investigating a hit-and-run accident in Brooklyn that left six vehicles damaged.
It happened around 2 a.m. Thursday in Sheepshead Bay.
"I just came out in the morning to drive to work," Bakhti Must, who owned one of the cars involved in the crash, said. "I saw the situation the car and its smashed."
Police are looking for the driver who left a mountain of wrecked cars at Coney Island Avenue and Avenue R.
Pictures taken at the scene show several cars in a mangled mess. The force of the collision sent an SUV on top of another car, CBS2 reported.
Investigators are trying to determine what kind of vehicle caused the mess.
Surveillance video taken by a pawn shop located on the block of the crash shows a flatbed tow truck pulling out on to the street after the cars are hit from behind. The tow truck then makes a speedy right turn onto Avenue R, CBS2's Alice Gainer reported.
Car owners were coming in and out of A-1 Pawnbrokers all day to get copies of the surveillance video.
"Very upset, everyone has their thing to do in the morning and they come out and see their car destroyed," Michael Stofman, A-1 Pawnbrokers manager, said. "They can't get to where they need to commute -- it's a problem."
By late Thursday, most of the cars had been towed away, but debris still remains.
No serious injuries were reported.
