Shaheen Holloway leaves Saint Peter's for Seton Hall

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. -- Saint Peter's men's basketball coach Shaheen Holloway is heading to his alma mater, Seton Hall.

The university announced Wednesday that Holloway has been named the new men's basketball head coach.

Holloway was endorsed by former coach Kevin Willard when Willard left to take over as the new head coach at Maryland. Holloway was an assistant coach under Willard for nine seasons.

Holloway was the starting point guard for the Seton Hall Pirates from 1996-2000. In his senior year, he led the Pirates to the Sweet 16. That was the last time a New Jersey team had made it that far until Holloway's Peacocks became the first 15 seed to make it to the Elite Eight this year.

According to the university, Holloway will be introduced as the head coach at a press conference Thursday afternoon.

Even with his new gig, Holloway is expected to attend the upcoming celebration for Saint Peter's incredible run in Jersey City.

You can watch the celebration starting at 2 p.m. Friday on CBS News New York.
