Several People Seriously Hurt In 3-Story Building Collapse In Brooklyn

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Eight people were seriously hurt Wednesday after a three-story building collapsed in Brooklyn, according to fire officials.

Those hurt were taken to Brookdale and Kings County hospitals following the 1 p.m. collapse of the vacant three-story building located at 1916 Prospect Place.

The FDNY says their conditions are not considered life-threatening.

The building was under demolition at the time.

A preliminary inspection by the Department of Buildings found that interior demolition work was being done illegally and without permits.

The investigation is ongoing.
