Two Men Critically Hurt In Motor Vehicle Accident Involving Tractor-Trailer In Queens

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- At least three people were hurt in a motor vehicle accident involving a tractor-trailer in the Rosedale section of Queens Monday evening.

Police say another vehicle collided with the tractor-trailer near the intersection of Rockaway Boulevard and Brookville Boulevard near John F. Kennedy International Airport around 6:30 p.m.

The striking vehicle was crushed beneath the tractor-trailer, ripped apart and completely unrecognizable. The scene was so bad it left other truck drivers shaken.

"This is pretty bad," driver Mike Bogdan told CBS2's Tracee Carrasco. "This is really bad, for the past couple of years there's been a lot of accidents around here."

Two men between 20 and 30 years old were transported to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in critical condition, according to the FDNY. Witnesses described the frantic scene as first responders worked to extricate the victims.

"They were cutting the car up, cutting the trailer, everything, a lot of people over here working," Bogdan said.

Another person suffered minor injuries and refused medical attention at the scene.

Investigators believe the tractor-trailer was moving in reverse while making a delivery when it was struck by the car.

The accident remains under investigation.
