Service Dogs-In-Training Take Test Run At LaGuardia Airport
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – Future service dogs and their handlers got a training session at LaGuardia Airport Saturday.
Volunteers, along with 10 puppies who will one day help people with disabilities, had the chance to go through airport security and board an airplane with the help of the TSA.
After months of training, the dogs will help their human partners travel through airports and board planes.
"Having a dog that's adaptable and easy to manage on a plane is a really big plus. You don't want a dog that's going to cause any interference so having a dog that's exposed to this experience and is comfortable with is a huge plus," dog trainer Laura Ann Dubecky said.
The puppies who got to go behind the scenes at the airport were between 8 months and a year old.
