Search On For Suspect Who Robbed, Pistol-Whipped 2 Men In Greenwich Village Home
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Saturday were searching for a suspect who stormed into a house in Greenwich Village, pistol-whipped two men, and made off with jewelry and $1,400 in cash.
The robbery happened around 1:10 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 12. The 31-year-old man was followed into the front door of his building on West 10th Street by a stranger wearing a ski mask, police said.
The suspect pulled out a handgun and pistol-whipped the victim in the back of his head, before making him walk into his apartment and open the door, police said.
Once inside, the suspect demanded, "Give me the money and the jewelry," police said.
The suspect then approached a second victim, a 62-year-oldf man, and pistol-whipped him in the head, police said. The relationship between the victims, if any, was not specified.
The victims handed over jewelry and a total of $1,400, police said. The suspect ran off in an unknown direction.
The victims were both treated at an area hospital for minor injuries.
The suspect was described as a white male about 25 years old, standing about 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighing about 180 pounds, with long, curly black hair. He was last seen wearing a black ski mask, a black ski cap, black dress shoes, black gloves, black pants, and a black three-quarter-length overcoat.
Police have released surveillance photos of the suspect.
