Police: Sean 'Diddy' Combs Arrested In LA On Suspicion Of Assault With Deadly Weapon
LOS ANGELES (CBSNewYork) -- New York native Sean "Diddy" Combs was arrested in Los Angeles Monday on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, according to the UCLA Police Department.
In a written statement, UCLA police said Combs was arrested Monday at the Acosta Athletic Training Complex on campus shortly after 12:30 p.m. Pacific Time Monday, CBS Los Angeles reported.
While the details surrounding the arrest were not disclosed, UCLA police identified the alleged weapon as a kettlebell, CBS LA reported.
Police said Combs would be transported by evening to Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department inmate reception center, CBS LA reported.
Following Combs' arrest, Jim Mora, the university's football coach, issued the following statement:
"I'm thankful that our staff showed the level of professionalism that they did in handling this situation. This is an unfortunate incident for all parties involved. While UCPD continues to review this matter, we will let the legal process run its course and refrain from further comment at this time."
Combs' son, Justin Combs, is a defensive back on the UCLA football team. According to the school's website, he is "credited with one tackle in the win over USC" in 2014.
