2 Correction Officers, 1 Inmate Suffer Minor Injuries After Fire At Rikers Island
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- There was a fire on Rikers Island on Friday.
A Department of Correction spokesperson says there was a small fire at a housing unit at the North Infirmary Command, which caused heavy smoke conditions.
FDNY responded to the scene at 8:15 p.m., getting the fire under control in about an hour.
The Department of Correction says every individual has been accounted for. Two correction officers and one inmate had minor injuries.
