Reward Offered For Information Leading To Suspect Who Allegedly Ran Over Cop

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- The New York State Crime Stoppers have offered a reward of $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a suspect who allegedly ran over a Yonkers police detective.

This past Friday, the detective was working with members of the Westchester County District Attorney's office to apprehend Leroi Bouche, 27, behind the Oakwood Gardens Apartments on East Lincoln Avenue in Mount Vernon, Crime Stoppers said. The detective spotted Bouche and came up to his vehicle, and was violently struck by the vehicle, Crime Stoppers said.

"He ran from them. He actually got into his vehicle. He refused to comply, rammed the car into the officer and another vehicle, jumping out of the car and fled on foot," said Mount Vernon Deputy Police Commissioner Richard Burke said last week.

Police told CBS 2's John Slattery that Bouche was at the wheel of a silver Infiniti, which struck not only the investigator but a parked car in a rear lot.

The detective suffered a dislocated shoulder and fractured vertebrae, and remained hospitalized as of Tuesday, Crime Stoppers said.

A manhunt for Bouche prompted a lockdown of two nearby schools - Traphagen and Mount Vernon High School - for three hours. The schools operated as normal within their buildings, but all doors and windows were secured.

A warrant on charges of attempted aggravated assault upon a police officer has been issued, and Bouche is considered armed and dangerous, police said.

Bouche previously served two years and four months for unlawful imprisonment.

"He did state prison time, he was acquitted of murder charges and he's known to be a violent individual," said Burke.

Anyone with information is asked to call the New York State Crime Stoppers hotline at (866) 313-TIPS, or go to the state Crime Stoppers website or app.
