Rangers head coach Alain Vigneault confirmed the injury, and told reporters that Kreider will not join the team on its four-game road trip beginning on Friday and ending on April 3.
"We're still in the process of evaluating our course of action," Vigneault said. "He's definitely not going to be on the trip. We'll know here probably in the next couple of days what the course of action is ... He got hurt in the Columbus game. There's very limited pain, very small amount of pain."
It remains to be seen whether Kreider will need surgery.
"That's what we're trying to decide," Vigneault said.
The organization recalled center J. T. Miller from the Hartford Wolf Pack on Wednesday morning. He will play against the Flyers on Wednesday night at Madison Square Garden.
