Report: Oheka Castle Owner Involved In Business Dispute Weeks Before Shooting
HUNTINGTON, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) - As the owner of Long Island's Oheka Castle continues to recover from Monday's shooting, a new report indicates has was recently wrapped up in a legal feud.
As WCBS 880 Long Island Bureau Chief Mike Xirinachs reported, Gary Melius, the owner of the lavish Gold Coast estate, was embroiled in a bitter legal dispute with a business partner just weeks before being shot by a masked gunman.
He had accused his partner at Interceptor Ignition Interlocks of mismanagement and financial improprieties, according to a Newsday report.
Just days before the shooting, Melius had reportedly planned to name new directors at that company, the paper reported.
Police have offered no comment on the report, but have previously said Melius' business dealings are part of their investigation.
Melius controls dozens of companies, Xirinachs reported.
He remains hospitalized recovering from a gunshot wound to the forehead.
Authorities have called the shooting an assassination attempt.
