Reports: Nets Help Out Cavs, Grab Jarrett Jack In 3-Team Trade
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Cleveland could be giving LeBron James something to think about, thanks to the Brooklyn Nets and Boston Celtics.
The Cavaliers will ship guard Jarrett Jack to the Nets in a three-team trade, according to multiple reports. The deal would clear enough cap space for a serious run at James, who left Cleveland for Miami in 2010.
ESPN's Marc Stein was first to report the deal.
Brooklyn would also get Sergey Karasev, reports said. General manager Billy King would be giving up guard Marcus Thornton to the Boston Celtics and the rights to three prospects to the Cavaliers.
Here are the details, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports:
As @ESPNSteinLine reports, Cavs unload Jack/Zeller/Karasev in 3-way. Asked Cavs official: Still in it for James? "I believe so," he says.

Boston gets: Marcus Thornton-Tyler Zeller, Cavs 2016 protected pick. Top 10 in '16, '17 or '18. Unprotected in '19.

In three-way deal, Brooklyn gets: Cleveland's Jarrett Jack and Sergey Karasev.

In 3-way, Cavs get: Draft rights to Nets prospects: Karaman/Drejer/Bavcic. And cap space -- more than the $20.7M needed -- to sign James.

The Cavaliers have been trying to clear enough cap space to lure a big-time free agent -- James, anyone? -- with a max contract. The trade can't be made official until Thursday.
With ESPN-reported trade of Jarrett Jack and opening of space, and Cavs giving up first-rounder, space now there for LeBron in Cleveland.

For Cavaliers, there are no assurances on LeBron James -- and Plan B remains free agent Trevor Ariza into part of space, sources tell Yahoo.

League source says Cavs' cap-clearing trade today is not LeBron-or-bust. Cavs have space and attractive situation even if LeBron says no.
