Report: Indictments In 'Bridgegate' Scandal Could Be Looming
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – Although news of "Bridgegate" has been out of headlines lately, a local report says the federal investigation appears to be coming to a head and indictments could be announced next week.
The number of new subpoenas in the case seems to be diminishing and The New York Times' Kate Zernike tells WCBS 880 investigators seem to be returning to their earlier interview subjects to firm up details.
But will the feds make a case against Gov. Chris Christie?
"Everyone I talk to seems to think it is very unlikely. The governor is very careful about sending any emails. His own investigations found nothing, no documents, no evidence that he was implicated in this," Zernike said.
The Port Authority admits federal investigators are looking at United Airlines flights from Newark, New Jersey, to Columbia, South Carolina, near a weekend home of former chairman David Samson.
As WCBS 880's Paul Murnane reported, the Manhattan district attorney is looking at the operation of the observation deck at One World Trade by Legends Hospitality, a company partially owned by Christie's pal Jerry Jones, the owner of the Dallas Cowboys.
