New Jersey Rep. Josh Gottheimer announces legislation to combat New York's congestion pricing plan
NEW JERSEY -- U.S. Rep. Josh Gottheimer of New Jersey is ramping up his fight against New York's congestion pricing plan, which calls for charging drivers a fee to travel below 60th Street in Manhattan.
"Next week, I'll be introducing new legislation to stop federal dollars in the upcoming government funding package from going to the MTA if they move ahead with their congestion tax plan," said Gottheimer.
MTA Chair Janno Lieber fired back, saying bringing more cars into Midtown doesn't make sense when considering gridlock.
Lieber said Gottheimer should write to the New York State Legislature since congestion pricing is already the law.
