Ray Lewis On Ray Rice: 'Some Things You Can Cover Up ... Some Things You Can't'

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Ray Lewis played his entire 17-year NFL career with the Baltimore Ravens.

The future Hall of Famer, now an ESPN analyst, discussed the Ray Rice situation at length on "Sunday NFL Countdown."

A former teammate of Rice's, Lewis addressed the report suggesting that the Ravens knew more about Rice's alleged assault of his then-fiance than they have led on in previous weeks.

After a video showed Rice punching his now-wife in a casino elevator in Atlantic City, his contract was terminated and he was suspended indefinitely by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.

But how much did the Ravens know in February about what the running back did?

Lewis praised general manager Ozzie Newsome and owner Steve Bisciotti during the segment, proclaiming that the duo was always truthful to him during his playing days.

He did make an odd statement, however, that turned some heads.

"There's some things you can cover up, and there's some things you can't," the two-time Super Bowl champion told host Chris Berman.

Lewis famously pleaded to a misdemeanor charge of obstruction of justice following an incident in Atlanta in 2000. Lewis was initially charged with murder, but those charges were dropped in exchange for testimony.
