Rapper Travis Scott to speak to NYPD next week about nightclub assault

Rapper Travis Scott agrees to speak with NYPD about nightclub assault

NEW YORK -- CBS2 has learned rapper Travis Scott will turn himself in to the NYPD next week for questioning about a Midtown nightclub assault.

Police say a sound engineer was punched in the face Wednesday morning at Club Nebula on West 41st Street.

During the chaos, $12,000 worth of equipment was damaged.

Sources say Scott faces possible misdemeanor assault and criminal mischief charges.

Scott's lawyer released a statement saying, "No charges have been filed against Travis Scott and all reports claiming otherwise are grossly inaccurate. Legal counsel for Travis are actively working with the authorities and remain confident that Travis will be vindicated once all is said and done. Any statements about the incident involving Travis are clearly an attempt to sensationalize what is nothing more than a misunderstanding."
