Rangers Have Area's Recreational Hockey Players Buzzing
GREENBURGH, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- With the Rangers playing for the Stanley Cup, recreational hockey players who cheer for the Blueshirts are in hockey heaven.
As WCBS 880's Peter Haskell reported, Rangers fans at Westchester Skating Academy in Greenburgh had a little more skip in their skate Monday.
"It's hockey time in New York," said John Pardo. "It's freaking awesome.
"Everybody's got the fever," he added. "Everybody wants to go play."
"It gets me fired up to come back on the ice every day and get better," said M.J. Garrity.
Mike Kulakowich, a supervisor at the facility, located just a few miles from the team's training facility, said the Rangers' postseason run has been good for business.
"It's great for our industry," he said. "It's great for New York."
Greenburgh Town Supervisor Paul Feiner said there's a little extra buzz there.
"It adds a lot of prestige to the town because they have their training facility in Greenburgh," he said.
The Stanely Cup Finals between the Rangers and Los Angeles Kings begins Wednesday night.
