Dozens Rally For Police Reform As Former Suffolk Sergeant Appears In Court
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A rally was held outside the Central Islip courthouse on Long Island Tuesday as protesters call for police reform.
Dozens of Hispanic women and men called for an end to what they say is biased and abusive policing, WCBS 880's Sophia Hall reported.
This on the same day former Suffolk County Police Sgt. Scott Greene appeared in court on charges he pulled over Hispanic men and robbed them.
Joselo Lucero, of Long Island United for Police Reform, said this happens all too often.
"Sergeant Greene is not the only one representing the misconduct police officers. There are many out there," he said.
The Suffolk County Police Department said it is committed to enhancing its relationship with many diverse communities, Hall reported.
