Man Recalls Frightening Gunpoint Robbery Inside Rahway Warehouse
RAHWAY, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A group of masked men burst into a New Jersey warehouse and held several people at gunpoint.
As CBS2's Tracee Carrasco reported, surveillance footage shows Mohammed Halim sitting at his desk, talking to employees on Tuesday morning -- inside his Rahway, New Jersey warehouse.
Suddenly a man with a gun rushed in and headed straight for Halim's drawers.
"They grabbed the envelope and they're looking for money, and there's no money inside and they hit me, and I was very scared," he said.
Halim was hit in the head with a gun as a second suspect entered the office. Two more men ordered the employees to the ground.
"Those guys, they know something," Halim said.
Earlier the four men were seen pulling up outside the warehouse on New Brunswick Avenue, then walking in an open door wearing hoods and masks to cover their faces.
Halim, a wholesale food distributor, said the suspects seemed very familiar with the property and what was inside.
"We collect some cash collection sometimes, and it was some collections on Monday and last Friday," he said.
The suspects got away with about $5,000 in cash. Halim said he has never been worried about his safety. Now, he's thinking twice.
"I was pretty scared. You know like, this never happened in my life. I have never seen somebody hold a gun my in face," he said.
Police were still looking for those four suspects on Wednesday. Halim said they are investigating to see if one of the suspects may have been a former employee.
