NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A driver was arrested and charged Tuesday in a hit-and-run crash that left a woman dead and her 9-year-old daughter critically injured in Queens this past weekend.

Jairam Budhu, 58, of Queens, was charged with manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, and assault, leaving the scene of an accident causing death and injury, and aggravated unlicensed driving, police said.

Zaalika Rasool, 41, was killed when the red Toyota sedan she was in with her husband, daughter and another passenger, was struck by a drive in a black BMW sports utility vehicle on 115th Avenue and 130th Street in the Ozone Park section of Queens on Sunday night.

Rasool was a wife and mother to three children.
