Pulaski Skyway To Be Closed In Both Directions This Weekend

JERSEY CITY, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- It's another weekend of detours for motorists who use the Pulaski Skyway to travel between Newark and Jersey City.

The bridge will be closed in both directions between 9 p.m. Friday and 5 a.m. Monday because workers are replacing floor beams as part of the 83-year-old span's rehabilitation.

The state Transportation Department says the closure includes most on and off ramps, including the southbound on ramp from Tonnele Circle.

The ramp from the Skyway to I-280/Route 7 and Routes 1 and 9 southbound will remain open.

The DOT advises motorcycles to find an alternate route or use extreme caution because of the metal plates when traveling on the southbound lanes of the Pulaski Skyway when it is open.
