'Project Heat' Web Series Sheds Light On Life In Brooklyn's Pink Houses
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A New York City man is casting light on life in the projects with a popular web series focusing on the Pink Houses in Brooklyn.
"Project Heat," created by Tiffon "Pop" Dunn, blends storytelling and reality to portray life in the East New York housing development, focusing on real issues, like robbery, crime and drug deals.
Dunn said he wants the series to be as real as real life gets, 1010 WINS' Glenn Schuck reported. One episode shows officers doing vertical patrols in the stairwells, echoing the fatal shooting of Akai Gurkey, who was killed after NYPD officer Peter Liang fired his weapon in a Pink Houses stairwell in November 2014.

While the series focuses on the Pink Houses for now, the creators hope to take the series into other areas around the city, with hopes to educate people on how to survive and make it in the projects.
The first episode was posted on a YouTube page by Showup Films in May 2015. Dunn says the series has grown in popularity because younger people can especially relate to the topics covered in the show.
The series is currently in its second season.
