Trump Supporters, Counter-Protesters Clash In Times Square As Caravan Rallies Travel Across NYC

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Traffic was snarled, objects were thrown at cars and several arrests were made Sunday as caravan rallies traveled through Manhattan and Brooklyn in support of President Donald Trump.

All day long, a group calling themselves "Jews for Trump" drove around Brooklyn and in Manhattan to rally for the president just nine days away from Election Day.

The pro-Trump caravan started peacefully in Brooklyn. Cars and trucks flanked with Trump 2020 signs were seen driving down Ocean Parkway.

The parade of vehicles then made its way into Manhattan, and that's when things got ugly, CBS2's Hazel Sanchez reports.

Their parade route got heated after they crossed paths with counter-protesters in Times Square.

Fists started flying and one fight led to another.

Some people were seen with bloodied faces. One person had to be taken away in a stretcher.

Police trying to deescalate the violence arrested seven people -- five men and two women.

They're facing various charges, ranging from assault to disorderly conduct and harassment.

No officers were hurt.

Police are also investigating several incidents of rocks being thrown at the caravan, including an incident on Prospect Expressway where people were captured on camera launching rocks from an overpass.

People in Midtown were also seen whipping rocks and eggs at a car carrying Trump attorney and former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani, who was part of the caravan.

Later, dozens of cars blocked traffic on the Brooklyn Bridge as the cavalcade made its way to an evening rally in Marine Park.
