Pro-Israel Protesters In NYC Blast Recent EU, UN Moves
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A small group of pro-Israel demonstrators rallied outside the United Nations on Sunday to voice their anger with the European Union and the U.N.
Helen Freedman, who leads the group Americans for a Safe Israel, said it's time to stand up to the European Union. The plea comes after a top court there ruled Hamas should be taken off the terrorist list and as the EU calls for a two-state union.
"All of these things are counterintuitive to a secure Israel, to the safety of Israel, to its very existence, and we have to say no," Freedman told WCBS 880's Jim Smith.
Charlie Bearnhaut said the EU's policies are a slippery slope.
"Whatever befalls Israel will eventually befall, I'm afraid to say, the free world and the United States," he said.
The protesters are also upset with the United Nations for condemning Israel for alleged human rights violations.
