Private Bus Strikes, Kills Man In Midwood, Brooklyn
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A man was struck and killed by a private bus in Midwood, Brooklyn Friday afternoon.
Police were called at 2:11 p.m. to Coney Island Avenue and Avenue M in Brooklyn. Officers learned that a 2001 green Freightliner bus was headed south on Coney Island Avenue, and its driver struck the man while turning right onto Avenue M, police said.
The man was crossing Avenue M from the south side to the north, and he was not using the marked crosswalk, police said.
The man suffered severe head trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. His name had not been released late Friday.
The bus driver remained at the scene, police said.
The accident was under investigation by the NYPD Highway District Collision Investigation Squad.
