Princeton Man Faces Variety Of Charges For Alleged Road Rage Incident On George Washington Bridge
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - A trip to the city has resulted in a trip to jail for a New Jersey man.
Scott Parsons, 56, faces a variety of charges after being involved in an apparent road rage incident on the George Washington Bridge Sunday.
It all began at around 3:30 p.m. in the westbound lanes of the bridge, according to Port Authority Police.
Witnesses said Parsons, of Princeton, was driving a red 1991 GMC pickup truck when he intentionally drove it into a Honda and a Chrysler, according to Port Authority Police.
After hitting the other cars, Parsons allegedly stopped his truck, got out and kicked, punched and jumped on the hood of the Chrysler, Port Authority Police said.
When police responded to the scene, Parsons took off, jumping over a barrier and running into the eastbound lanes of the bridge, Port Authority Police said.
Parsons kicked at officers and flailed his arms while he was being placed into custody, police said. He also bit an officer, police said.
Parsons and the officer were taken to an area hospital.
Parsons faces charges of assault by automobile, aggravated assault on a police officer, leaving the scene of an accident, criminal mischief, resisting arrest and trespassing, police said.
