Presidential Candidates Take Part In Memorial Day Services Throughout The Country

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork)-- Many of the candidates took part in Memorial Day services around the country Monday.

Hillary and Bill Clinton walked along the parade route in their adopted hometown of Chappaqua this morning with New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

"I love it, I love being here. It's my favorite parade," Hillary Clinton said.

The Clintons have walked in several Memorial Day parades since moving to the area back in 1999.

Meanwhile on the West Coast, Bernie Sanders was on hand to mark the 148th Annual San Francisco Memorial Day ceremony at the city's national cemetery. It's one of the largest events held in the nation to commemorate the day, drawing more than 2,500 people.

Sanders has been campaigning hard in California with the state's upcoming primary fast approaching on June 7. Even if Sanders wins there, Clinton could still clinch the nomination. She only need 73 delegates, just 8 percent of the remaining delegates.

Over the weekend, Donald Trump was the a Rolling Thunder biker rally in Washington while courting veterans. After months of criticism, he promised to explain where the $6 million he said he raised for veterans went.

"We are announcing on Tuesday all of the groups that we've put up this money, and we raised this tremendous amount of money 'cause we love the vets," he said.

Trump is also fighting back on Twitter after Bill Kristol, editor of the conservative magazine The Weekly Standard, wrote that "there will be an independent candidate, an impressive one, with a strong team and a real chance."

Trump tweeted back calling Kristol a "dummy" and "an embarrassed loser."

The Libertarian party's national convention was held in Florida over the weekend where they selected New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson as the candidate who will challenge Republicans and Democrats.
