Police: Woman Posed As Employee, Burglarized Greenwich Village CVS Store
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police were searching Thursday for a woman who allegedly posed as an employee at a Greenwich Village CVS drugstore, and was allowed into the office where she burglarized the safe.
The woman walked into the CVS store at 360 Sixth Ave. and introduced herself as an employee from another CVS store who was there for training, police said.
An employee brought the woman into the office at the store and left her alone, police said.
When the employee came back, the woman was gone, the safe was open, and an undetermined amount of money was missing, police said.
Police have released surveillance photos of the suspect.
The same CVS drugstore was robbed at gunpoint in an unrelated incident just over a month later.
According to police, the armed suspect entered the drugstore around 3:15 a.m. Feb. 9 in the later incident, and forced the manager into the back office.
At gunpoint, the suspect forced the manager to open the safe, police said. The suspect then took more than $9,000 and fled the store.
The suspect in the second incident was wearing a black 3/4 length jacket with a fur hood, gray pants and brown boots, police said. He was also carrying a black messenger bag.
