Police: Woman Driving Erratically Through Holland Tunnel In Possession Of Hundreds Of Pills
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – Port Authority Police have arrested a Brooklyn woman after receiving a call of a car being driven erratically through the Holland Tunnel from Manhattan to New Jersey.
According to police, witnesses said they saw an orange Toyota swerving through lanes, hitting the tunnel curb and even stopping in the middle of the road for no reason.
An officer waited on the other end of the tunnel for the driver, where police said he saw the vehicle come to a stop in the road again. He then followed the driver and attempted to pull them over.
Authorities said the officer noticed the smell of alcohol on the driver as well as an open bottle of vodka in the center console.
The driver, 53-year-old Diane Reiners, had bloodshot eyes and failed a field sobriety test, police said.
Authorities also said they found a plastic water bottle full of vodka in the car along with hundreds of prescription pills.
Reiners has been charged with DWI, reckless driving, possession of a controlled substance in a motor vehicle and disobeying traffic.
Reiner is listed as assisting clergy for the Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine in Manhattan, CBS2 reported.
