Police Seek Shooter That Killed 1, Wounded 2 In Washington Heights

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Friday continued to search for those responsible for a shooting that left one man dead, and another man and a teenage girl injured, in Washington Heights.

The shooting happened around 6:40 p.m. Thursday in front of 1653 St. Nicholas Ave., police said.

A man identified as Orlando Rivera, 42, was pronounced dead at NewYork Presbyterian-Columbia University Medical Center after suffering a gunshot wound to the back, police said.

A 20-year-old man suffered gunshot wounds to both legs and was taken to Harlem Hospital Center, where his condition was reported as stable afterward.

A 17-year-old girl was shot once in the left foot and was taken to NewYork Presbyterian-Columbia University Medical Center, where her condition was also reported as stable.

Police sources told CBS 2 the victims were all standing outside the building together. The survivors claimed they were approached by four men they did not know, and one of them pulled a gun and opened fire, police sources said.

There were no arrests as of Friday, and the investigation continued.
