Police Seek 2 Men In String Of ATM Burglaries Around Manhattan
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Wednesday were seeking two men who have been seen prying open ATMs mounted outside businesses from the Lower East Side to Chelsea and sometimes making off with cash.
The incidents took place as long ago as late January and as recently as this week, police said. Surveillance photos have been released from one of the incidents.
The thefts took place at the following times and locations:
• Between 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26 and 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, at SoHo News, 186 Prince St. No cash was taken, but the ATM was damaged;
• Between 12:28 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 22 and noon on Monday, Feb. 23, at 225 W. 23rd St. A total of $4,820 was taken;
• Between 11:30 p.m. Thursday, March 5, and 9:30 a.m. Friday, March 6, at Tasti D-Lite, 203 Spring St. No cash was taken, but the ATM was damaged;
• Between 2:27 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. Monday, March 16, at Rivington Street and the Bowery. No cash was taken, but the ATM was damaged;
• Between 9:15 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, and 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 18, at 46 W. 21st St. A total of $2,460 was taken. Surveillance photos were released from this incident;
• Between 9:55 p.m. Monday, March 23, and 9:37 a.m. Tuesday, March 24, at 144 W. 19th St. No cash was taken, but the ATM was damaged.
