Police Search For Suspects In Gunpoint Robbery In Coney Island Elevator

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Friday were asking to help them find two suspects who robbed a woman at gunpoint in a Coney Island, Brooklyn elevator.

The robbery happened around 3:55 p.m. in a building at Mermaid Avenue and West 29th Street in Brooklyn, police said.

The 55-year-old woman was followed into the elevator by two men, and when the elevator reached the eighth floor, one of the suspects pulled a gun and grabbed the woman's purse, police said.

Both suspects then ran off with the purse, which contained a wallet, $120, a cellphone and miscellaneous items, police said. The woman was not injured.

The first suspect who pulled the gun was described as a black male in his late teens or early 20s, standing about 5 feet 7 inches tall with a slim build, police said. He was last seen wearing a black do-rag, a black waist-length Moncler jacket, and blue jeans.

The other suspect was described as a black male about 30 years old, standing about 6 feet 1 inch tall with a medium build. He was last seen wearing a red Yankees baseball cap, a waist-length jacket, and a red plaid scarf around his face. His hear was braided, and both his ears were pierced, police said.

Police have released a surveillance video of the suspects.
