Police Search For Robber Who Made Off With Over $1,200 From 14th Street Bank

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Wednesday were asking the public to help them find a suspect who robbed a bank at the busy junction of 14th Street and Sixth Avenue.

Around 3:35 p.m. Tuesday, the suspect walked into the HSBC Bank at 101 W. 14th St., approached a teller, and passed a demand note, police said. The suspect walked out with $1,267 in a manila envelope, police said.

There were no injuries. Police did not mention any weapon being involved.

The suspect was described as a while male between the ages of 50 and 60, standing about 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing about 160 pounds. He was last seen wearing a burgundy button-down shirt, a gray T-shirt, jeans, and black and gray sneakers.

He was also last seen carrying the manila envelope with the cash, police said.

Police have released a surveillance photo of the suspect.
