Police Search For Couple Who Dined And Dashed In Coram

CORAM, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) – A man and a woman on Long Island are wanted for not paying their restaurant bill and endangering the safety of a waitress who chased after them.

Investigators say the couple can be seen on surveillance video walking into the Coram Diner in February. The video then shows them walking out without paying their $80 tab for a steak and seafood dinner.

As employees raced after them, they jumped into a 2012 black four-door Honda sedan, even as their waitress tried to stop them.

"The vehicle begins to pull away. In order to not get run over, she jumps on top of the vehicle, on the hood, and holds on for dear life," Lt. John Rowan with Suffolk County Police said.

The waitress was able to jump off the hood 250 yards down the road. She was not hurt.

Police are offering a reward for information leading to an arrest.
