Police: NJ Man Jumped From 2nd Floor Of Palisades Center Mall For $50 Bet
CLARKSTOWN, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- He's $50 richer, but will that even cover his bail?
A 21-year-old New Jersey man was injured -- then arrested -- Sunday after he, on a $50 dare, jumped from the second floor inside the Palisades Center mall, police said.
Cops responded to a call around 12:30 p.m. near the Macy's and found Nicholas Diblasi, of Park Ridge, New Jersey, sitting on the floor conscious, dazed and seemingly intoxicated, authorities said.
"He informed our officers that he, on a bet from a friend, had jumped off the second floor, which is about 20 feet," Clarkstown police Sgt. Glenn Cummings told WCBS 880.
Diblasi was taken to Nyack Hospital for treatment. His injuries, which include a banged-up leg, do not appear to be serious, police said.
Diblasi was charged with reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct. He is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 23.
"This all took place in a public facility, and obviously created alarm and also endangered the pedestrians who were walking by when he jumped off the second floor," Cummings said.
