Police: Man Stole Single Shoes Off Women's Feet At Brooklyn Subway Stop

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A search was under way Friday night for a suspect in the theft of single shoes right from women's feet on the stairs to an elevated subway station in Coney Island, Brooklyn.

The incidents both happened at the West 8th Street-New York Aquarium station, police said.

Around 3:15 p.m. Sept. 11, a woman was walking up the stairs to the Q Train at the station when the suspect came up from behind and took her right shoe – a black Adidas sneaker, police said.

Around 8:18 a.m. Oct. 2, another woman was walking to the F Train at the same station, when the suspect likewise came up from behind and ripped her Nike sneaker off her right foot, police said.

The suspect was described as a white male in his 30s. Police have released surveillance video.
